LifeGroups Catalog Winter 2010 PDF Print E-mail

LifeGroups are a safe place to meet new people, make friends, grow in your faith and connect with God’s word.  Everyone will have a chance to sign up for our Winter semester of LifeGroups starting December 6th, with groups starting the week of January 10th.  In the Winter semester, there will be a number of different LifeGroups with different studies.  Here is a listing of those groups, their meeting times, and the subjects they will be discussing.  Prayerfully consider which LifeGroup may be right for you, and sign up at the LifeGroup table at church, or you can use the following link and sign up on line!  http://www.kofklo.org/lifegroups/signup.html

#W1001—50+ LifeGroup “Galatians: Experiencing Freedom in Jesus”
Sandy & Al Craddock,  Monday Nights, 7:00 p.m. @ the Hart’s home

Through this Bible Study on the book of Galatians from Group Publishing, participants will learn about the Freedom to serve and grow in Jesus.  Paul’s letter to the Galatians is all about the new found freedom we have as we live and grow in God’s Grace.  A DVD comes with the booklet so that each participant can “see” God’s word in action!

 #W1002—Men’s LifeGroup --“Dare to be Uncommon”
Bill Sanger, Thursday Nights 7:00 p.m. @ Church

This group is for Men who will use Tony Dungy’s DVD “Dare to be Uncommon” and follow a workbook that will share core truths about life, influence, and faith.  You’ll explore Scripture, engage in discussion, encounter character-building, and uncover what it means to live a life of true significance.

 #W1003—Women’s LifeGroup - Beth Moore’s “Esther – It’s Tough Being a Woman”
Debbie Simms, Monday Nights 6:30 p.m. @ Church

The women’s group will be doing an in-depth study of the book of Esther.  The study uses a DVD and workbook that we will discuss together. If you’ve ever felt inadequate, threatened, or pushed into situations that seemed overpowering, this is the study for you. Just as it was tough being a woman in Esther’s day, it’s tough today.

Bill & Debbie Booth, Sundays Nights, 6:30 p.m. @ Church

Relationships are wonderful gifts given to us by God, including the most intimate relationship between a husband and wife.  Unfortunately, relationships today are under more cultural and interpersonal pressure and stress than ever before in our history.  But it doesn’t have to be that way. Together, we can make a long-term difference for healthy relationships and marriages starting with yours!  This group will be watching and discussing a DVD series based on the movie “Fireproof”.

 #W1006—Parent’s LifeGroup “Parental Guidance Required”
Kevin & Lisa Hoban, Sunday Mornings 10:00 a.m. @ Church

Of all the assignments God will give you during your time on earth, none may be more sacred than the task of raising your children.   This group will be watching and discussing this practical DVD resource which features talks by Andy Stanley and Reggie Joiner who will challenge you to look at the relationships in your children’s lives and ask some important questions.

Most of us have trouble finding time to pray. There’s church and school and work and friends. And then the crises hit!  Time for prayer seems impossible to find.  Through Bill Hybels’ book, we will learn that prayer doesn’t happen on the run.  Together we will talk about this important part of discipleship as a follower of Jesus.

Have you ever wanted a place where you could learn the basics of the Christian faith?  A place where you can ask any question?  Alpha is a course that asks the most basic questions about being a Christian: Who is Jesus; Why and how should I read the Bible; Who is the Holy Spirit; How do I pray; Why did Jesus die?  This is a wonderful opportunity to visit or revist the very basics of faith.  The class is lead on DVD with Nicky Gumbel and then offers time for discussion and growth.  If you are looking for a place to start your faith journey, this is it!

 #W1009—General LifeGroup – “Experiencing God—Knowing and Doing the Will of God”

This is an in-depth study by Henry Blackaby on how you can know the will of God and live it in your life. A modern classic that has sold millions of copies worldwide, Experiencing God is based on seven Scriptural realities that teach us how to develop a true relationship with the Creator. By understanding how God is working through us even as we try to fathom His ways, we can begin to know His will for our lives. Please note: This study is 13 weeks and will extend beyond our LifeGroup schedule.
